Robert Haggerty started out his career in fantasy wrestling in March of 1998. He wrestled under the name "Black & Blue" Bob Hagar. He started his wrestling career in the Ogre Wrestling Association. His first appearance on Television was an attack on the Last Knight during a match on the OWA weekly show, Fatal Friday. Knight was in a match with J.T. Freeze when Hagar entered the ring and hit Knight with an AX Kick and then walked away. This was the start of a long lasting feud. Hagar defeated Knight in his wrestling debut. A special stipulation added to the match required Knight explain to the world why he was so fond of a wrestler known as Troy Boy. Knight revealed that Troy was his long lost son. But before the announcement, Troy Boy, ColdFire, and the rest of the Xtreme Mafia attacked Hagar, which would be the start of a long feud with Troy. After the attack, Hagar would seek revenge on the Xtreme Mafia.
Hagar was then challenged by Universal Champion and Xtreme Mafia member, Coldfire. This started a heated feud that ended with Hagar winning the gold with the help of BIPW. Hagar became the newest member of the Incredible Icons. On the same card, Troy Boy was a no-show and later revealed that he had been kidnapped. Hagar was the top suspect and was continually blamed for it by Knight, Phantom, and others. It was later discovered that Troy had been kidnapped by Knight's right hand man to protect him from the many people that wanted to harm Troy. Hagar was not the only person to hate the flamboyant Troy Boy.
Hagar lost the Universal title to Dazzling Maniac in a controversial match. BIPW attempted to hit Maniac with the Universal Title but accidentally hit Hagar instead. Hagar claimed it was no accident and left the OWA for a short time.
Hagar went to a fed known as CCW. He entered and easily won the World title. He left soon after winning the title after being insulted by the president. Hagar then returned to the OWA and joined the Bounty Hunters led by his life long friend, Agent Steele.
Hagar regained the Universal title by defeating Troy Boy in another controversial match. After being hit in the head with a jumbo sized Bob Hagar wrestling figure, Troy was pinned by Hagar and lost the gold. Hagar and Troy's feud heated up when Hagar's son, 'Lil Bob stated that his favorite wrestler was Troy. Hagar lost the title to another member of the Knight family, Troy's brother Ashe Ralston after being distracted by Troy, Ashe was able to roll up Hagar and get the three count.
Hagar got envolved in a huge contraversy behind the scenes in the OWA. The OWA President and several others were upset over some comments Hagar had made about how the fed was being run. Hagar was almost out of a job, but after realizing the mistake he had made, Hagar appologized for the incident. That didn't get Hagar completely off the hook, though. Hagar waould wrestle OWA president Big Leroy in a special grudge match. Despite interference by Agent Steele, Hagar was still destoyed by Big Leroy. But instead of pinning the two-time Universal champion, Leroy opted to help Hagar up and shake his hand, ending the fued.
Soon after, Hagar and Steele won the World Tag Team titles from Mafia members Dazzling Maniac and Lobo. Hagar later attempted to sell his half of the titles to the Billion Dollar man for 10 million dollars. The tag team champions were scheduled to wrestle the Insiders later that night. OWA president Big Leroy disallowed the sale and said that Hagar was still the champion and had to wrestle in the match. Hagar was no longer at the arena, so Steele had to wrestle alone. Steele lost the match and the titles due to outside interference by Don Smith.
Hagar, after winning a steel cage match, was confronted by Troy Boy. Enraged, Hagar was attacked him and slammed Troy's head into the cage. While pummelling Troy, he noticed that his son 'Lil Bob, was crying because Hagar was attacking his son' favorite wrestler. Hagar stopped the attack and shook the hand of Troy temporally ending the feud.
Hagar then entered a second fed called the WWA. Hagar became the first WWA Extreme Champion. While in the WWA, he joined Millenium, a stable led by Cage Caplin. But because of a few no-shows, he was jobbed to Chaimber and lost the title.
Hagar remained in the OWA and was scheduled to face Pretty Dan for the OWA World Title. Dan left the OWA before the match ever took place. Big Leroy scheduled a match between Hagar and BIPW to determine a new champion. Hagar won a hard fought match against BIPW to win the title. Phantom watched the match from ringside and left a mannequin resembling Hagar with a noose around the neck in his place. (Earlier in the night, Hagar had came out and instigated Phantom during a match with Agent Steele. Phantom went after Hagar and they brawled all the way to the back. Steele won by countout.) This set up another feud. The feud peaked with a match involving four OWA greats in the ring at the same time. Phantom and Pestilence faced Bob Hagar and Troy Boy in what was hyped as the biggest match in the history of wrestling. Hagar and Troy won the match, but ended with the two in a shoving match. Just before Hagar was about to face Phantom, the OWA closed with Hagar as the champion.
During this time, Robert Haggerty opened Major League Wrestling and entrusted Agent Steele to run the company. The fed closed after only a few cards due to lack of talent.
Hagar then entered Kingdom Fantasy Wrestling. He claimed to be the "Real World Champion" still holding the OWA World Title. He wrestled in a few matches and during a match with Professor Blackheart at a house show, Hagar was paralyzed after breaking his back and neck. Agent Steele came out of retirement to seek revenge on Blackheart for the incident.
"The Icon" Joseph Archer, dressed like Hagar and being pushed in a wheel chair by Kevin Rash, came out mocking Hagar during what was supposed to be a title match between Agent Steele and KFW champion Bryan Tann. (Steele had been attacked backstage by the Corporation led by KFW president Robert McCulloch. McCulloch replaced Steele with the Corporate Superstar wearing Agent Steele's mask.) Hagar enraged by the mockery, was set to do an interview with Zak James to discuss the matter with Archer. Hagar along with his wife and Agent Steele came out for the interview. Before the interview ever got started, Archer and Rash attacked Steele and Hagar. The crippled Hagar was power bombed 3 times and was forced to watch Archer grope and kiss his wife. Hagar was saved by long time rival from the OWA, Troy Boy. Troy was in attendance with Hagar's nephew Brad.
Hagar enraged when into intensive rehabilitation. And miraculously, Hagar regained full use of his entire body. During a match between the Diamond Kid and the new KFW Champion, Josheph Archer, a wheel chaired Hagar was at ringside as a guest announcer. Archer, not knowing Hagar was no longer paralyzed, slapped Hagar and insulted him. Later, Archer confronted Hagar again. This time, as Archer turned around, Hagar jumped out of the wheelchair and attacked Archer and threw him back into the ring. Archer eventually lost the match and the title due to interference, not only by Hagar, but a few others as well.
Robert Haggerty recently reopened Major League Wrestling. Haggerty will be running the fed along with commissioner Kain Cables. He has dropped the "Black & Blue" Bob Hagar persona and has returned to his given name Robert Haggerty. Haggerty is no longer seeking a return to the ring. He is dedicated to making MLW one of the greatest efeds of all time.
