Talia of Daernoss Dinlom

Pre-history

Talia's parents were originally from within Melian's girdle, but after the fall of Doriath, they faithfully followed Celeborn and Galadriel across Eriador to dwell for a time in Eregion. When Sauron attacked they fled beneath the Misties to Lothlorien, joining other members of their family who had gone ahead from Hollin. There they lived out the rest of their days in Middle-Earth, allegiant servants to the Lord and Lady.

History

On a fair spring evening, blessed by Elbereth with multitudes of stars, an elf-child was born to proud Sindarin parents beneath the golden boughs of Lothlorien. Her mother, Ainanna, gave her the name Talia. Tauron, her father, complemented the name with one of his own, Aglarwain, because he knew that his daughter would bring glory to the family. Ainanna and Tauron had one child already, Glinden, and she and Talia became close friends.

During her childhood, Talia spent her time among the great mellyrn of the Golden Wood with her sister or her cousin, Terridan, never even crossing the bridge into Caras Galadon until later in her life. Often seen bounding through the Woods with the speed and surety of a deer, the other forest-dwellers called her Aras the few times they caught a glimpse of her. When she became old enough, she began to work alongside her father, a forester. She quickly developed her natural aptitude for forestry and gained much more knowledge of trees and the other flora of the Golden Wood. When she considered herself able, Aras officially joined the ranks of the foresters; much to the delight of her father and the chagrin of her mother, a Diplomat who thought her daughter should be more concerned with books and languages than trees. But Aras grew strong and swift, and both parents became proud of the respect their daughter recieved from the other foresters.

But the bliss of the small family was not to last forever. On the eve of Aras' 75th birthday, word came from the northern borders that a diplomatic party returning from Amon Thranduil had been attacked and among the fatalities were Ainanna. Grief stricken, Tauron left the Golden Wood to sail West and Aras was brought to the city to live with Telion, a close friend of her father, who taught her much of the lore of DaernossDinlom, her family, and about being an Indor. While in the city, she met the Lady Galadriel for the first time and her thoughts were immediately turned to service--to protect the citizens of her home from the fate her mother had suffered. She made a vow before Galadriel on bended knee and left the City. Though she retained her position as a forester, she also joined the Galadhrim Guard under the name of Talia (in remembrance of her mother). In the following centuries, Talia enveloped herself in her new duties and rose in the ranks. She met and married a fellow guard, Kathalis, and together they continue to serve their Lord, Lady, and home in word and deed.
