BEDLAM

Submerged on our predatory planet
in chemistries of here and now,
love is too precious surviving awhile
ever surrounded and menaced
by savage fear and desire
who run screaming and raging
their dreams of brutal escape
from insidious images of death
that stir up the sexual impulse
for prolific race and macho class
in these appetite driven hordes
who, all but a tragic few,
break out raving and cheering
their dramas of war and space.
