Imaginary Landscapes of Dr. Jaime An Lim will be exhibited at British Information Centre, G/F Taipan Palace, Emerald Avenue, Ortigas, Complex, Pasig City. It will be opened on June 18, 2000 and will run until June 30.

An-Lim Opens His Solo Painting Exhibit

 

Dr. Jaime An-Lim opens his solo exhibit this afternoon at Maria Cristina Hotel Coffee Shop. "Imaginary Landscapes" consists of his latest works in Oil. The show will run until January 31, 2000.

Winners of DTI-Sponsored Poster Making Contest

 

Rico Catalan, a high school student of Iligan City National High School, won the DTI-Sponsored Poster Making Contest - "Konsyumer Proteksyon: Nasa-an Na Tayo Ngayon" as the theme. The contest was held at the MSU-IIT, IDS Lecture Hall, Iligan City on October 06, 1999.

Joey Aries Vergara of RSHS won second place.

Catalan's work shall represent Iligan City for the Regional Level Contest.

Konsumante Iliganon co-sponsored the activity.

Calling All Northern Mindanao Artists

 

Ms. Lea Padilla, the NCCA-CVA Coordinator for Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and Marawi is calling all visual artists within the cluster, to prepare for the Sungduan 2000, a national exhibition, to be held in CCP Main Gallery, Manila on February 2000 - in time for the Arts Month Celebration.

A pre-screening of works will be undertaken by Ms. Corazon Alvina. In this regard, interested artists are advised to submit 3-5 transparencies of work (done not later than a year ago) and your artist folio to Ms Padilla not later than the third week of September 1999.

Works initially chosen by Ms. Alvina shall be exhibited during the 3rd Mindanao Visual Arts Congress on November 23 - 26, 1999 at Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Exhibition Center.

A second-level screening shall be done during the exhibit, to be undertaken by Ms. Alvina - as lead curator, assisted by Mr. Bobbi Valenzuela and Mr. Jose Tence Ruiz. Selected works will now form part the aforementioned Sungduan 2000 National Exhibition.

Mixed Media Art Group Will Mount Its Second Major Exhibit

Mixed Media Iligan Artist Group, who is composed of young and talented visual artists, will mount its second major exhibit in the second week of March 1999, in Iligan City.

 

The exhibit, dubbed as INTERPRETATIONS, will consist of latest works of Mary Ann Docog, Chris Gomez, Krisma Kasem, Kurt Lluch, Ivan Macarambon, Eli Neri, Lea Padilla, and Portado Jeremiah.

Iligan Artists and Cultural Workers Meet

 

The Iligan Council for Culture and Arts (ICCA) in coordination with the Iligan City Cultural Affairs Office (CAO) will hold a consultative assembly with Iligan artists and cultural workers on February 28, 1999 at Café Hermoso, Iligan City.

 

The whole day consultative assembly is aimed at drawing up a meaningful and directed cultural programming for the next two years. The consolidation of artists and cultural workers efforts and resources are aimed to develop community awareness that artistic works are expressions of the soul of the people.

 

Professor Felipe M. de Leon, Jr., NCCA Chairman of Sub-commission on Cultural Communities and Traditional Arts, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address.
