When Evil Meets Love

Home

It was a cold, dark, stormy night as a car pulled up in a desolate alley. Once parked, a man emerged with a cage, opened it and pulled out a young male cat by the scruff of its neck. It was striped with orange, yellow and black markings. The man tossed the feline on the damp ground, jumped back in his vehicle and drove away, leaving the striped cat alone in the dark as the heavy rain continued to fall. The young cat found shelter in a nearby tipped trashcan and soon fell asleep. Minutes later, he was confronted by a larger, street cat. The cat looked at the orphan with a wicked eye when finally he decided to ignore it and kept walking. Sadly, the young cat purred and the street cat stopped. He looked back at him in the can, hesitated as he thought. Feeling sorry for the youngster, he finally decided to return and tell the feline to follow him out of the rain. Months passed and Macavity taught the stranded cat how to hunt and fend for itself. He soon grew healthy and hansome. One day, he was out scavenging in a trashcan located in a junkyard, when a slender, female cat approached him. Startled by her presence, the male cat tripped over the trashcan with a loud crash. The female feline giggled. "Who are you?" he asked as he slowly stood to his feet. "The name's Rumpleteazer. What's yours?" Overwhelmed by her beauty, the male cat stuttered as he said, "M-Mongo-Mongojerry." thinking of what to say Jerry asked, "So you live here?" Rumple shook her head, "Nah, this is were we meet." Jerry frowned, "We?" Rumple nodded, "Yeah, the jellicle cats. Would you like to meet them?" Jerry hesitated, "I really shoudn't-" but Rumple grabbed his arm and said, "Ah come on, don't be shy." and the two ran off to the other side of the junkyard, where all the jellicles talked and played. "Hey everyone," cried Rumple, "I'd like you to meet Mongojerry." Munkustrap approached him and circled him as if examening him from his ears to his tail. "Where you from?" Munku asked. "I-I was abandoned." Munku continued to stare at him when Mistoffelees and Alonzo came up and said, "Looks pretty safe to me Munkustrap." Alonzo agreed, "Yeah, let's have him join us." Munkustrap hesitated then replied, "He had to be approved by Old Deuteronomy first." So Jerry was brought before the jellcile leader. "I'd like to talk with him alone if you don't mind." Munku nodded then left. Then Old Deut turned to Jerry and asked, "Care to go for a walk?" As the two cats walked down the street, Jerry told the jellicle leader all about himself. How he was taken from his mother who was killed for a science experiment and brought to the pound. He was then bought from a man who owned many cats. However, he found Jerry troublesome and decided to get rid of him by leaving him on a sidestreet alone. Then Old Deuteronomy told Jerry of the wonderful times they have together at the jellicle balls and so on. Then at the end of their walk Old Deut turned to him and asked, "If you want to become a jellicle I must be worthy of such an honor." "How do I prove myself worthy ?" Jerry asked. "I'll be watching you and when the time is right, I'll let you know when you can be apart of us." Days past and Rumpleteazer and Mongojerry became awfully close. They played chase, hide-and-go-seek, and felt very comfortable sleeping cuddled next to each other. One night, the two sat by each other on the tire alone staring up at the jellicle moon. "I sure hope I'm accepted." replied Jerry. "I'm sure you will be." Rumple answered. Then looking deep in her eyes, Jerry said, "Because I want to be with you forever." "So do I." she replied. "I've never been loved by anyone before." Jerry said. Rumple smiled and said, "Then let me be the first." and slowly they placed their heads down and fell asleep. The next day they were awaken by a sudden noise. Immediatly, the jellicles emerged out of their hiding places in curiousity. Just then, Macavity appeared ontop of a pile of junk in the junkyard with a growl. The jellicles began running for cover but found themselves surrounded by his henchmen. Munkustrap hissed at the wild cat spitefully. Slowly, Macavity approached Munkustrap and then spotted Mongojerry on the tire beside Rumpleteazer. "Excellent work Mongojerry. Thanks to you I now know where the jellicles live. We're the best team aren't we?" Munkustrap glanced at Mongojerry in shock. Jerry shook his head frantically, "No, I didn't-" he then looked at Rumple who had the same stunned expresion as she whispered, "Mongojerry?" Jerry hesitated as he tried to explain, "No, you have to believe me. I didn't set you up!" Macavity approached Jerry, placed an arm around his shoulder and said, "Oh come now Jerry. What happened to the good old days of creating chaos and attacking other street cats?" Mongo shook his head, "That was then, this is now. I'm not like you anymore!" Macavity was dissapointed, "After all I've done for you. I taught you to fend for yourself. I saved your life!" "What are you going to do with them?" Jerry asked fearfully. "All my life, I've dreamed of being the jellicle leader. Now that I have them, they're mine." And with a nodd, Macavity's henchmen attacked the jellicle tribe. "No!" cried Jerry. "You're nothing but a traitor!" Macavity yelled as he grabbed Jerry by the throat, "I should kill you right now!" but then slowly releasing him he said, "but I'll give you another chance. Come back with me and you may live." "Never!" Jerry yelled. Immediatly Macavity clawed Jerry's face and grabbed Rumpleteazer who screamed. "No! Let her go!" and Jerry leaped on Macavity and the two cats rolled, clawed and fought. Jerry then flipped Macavity over him and into a pile of garbage. Injured, Macavity emerged from the rubble and said in a voice of dismay, "I took you from the cold and taught you everything! You should be thankful for all I've done for you" Jerry gritted his teeth and replied, "You taught me to be wicked and to follow your evil footsteps. Be no means am I thankful for that!" Macavity then stood and spit in Jerry's face as he said, "Don't think you'll get away that easily. I saved your life, don't think I won't take it!" and with that he called his cats who were loosing the battle anyway and ran off. Rumpleteazer ran to Mongojerry and attended to his deep wounds as she said, "Why didn't you tell me you worked with him?" "It wasn't something I'm proud of." Then Old Deuteronomy approached him and said with a smile, "Well I'm proud of you and I would be honored to have you as a fellow jellicle." Mongojerry smiled and as he embraced his love, Rumpleteazer he replied, "And I would be honored to be called one!"
