I looked up at the green-gray wall
and what I saw there told it all
The words wove a tale of an author so lonely
desperate for someone to hear sorrow's cry
Wary of loving, scared of rejection
unwilling to gamble on true love's perfection
A heart wounded spirit, steeled against further sorrow
rejecting all thoughts of a love for tomorrow
My soul aches with grief for this author unknown
Who wrote:
"You'll never break this heart of stone"
