Christopher, night of deployment in support of Iraqi Freedom


HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON
On a wonderful Sunday afternoon in nineteen eighty two
I did what any caring new mother would do
I held my newborn son tightly to my chest
I vowed at that time that I would always do my best
To protect my little one from all the hurts and strife
Praying that he would eventually lead a produtive life
The years have flown by and what times we have had
My son is no longer a small little lad
He has grown into a good man with compassion in his heart
My boy, my son, my hero from the start
I have truly been blessed all of these years
When I reflect upon his lifes journey, my eyes fill with tears
No tears of sadness, that is not what they are
They are tears of overwhelming pride that he's traveled so far
He spends his twenty first birthday in a foreign land
Waiting to fight a war so our freedoms will still stand
Happy Birthday to my son who is so far away
My love and loyality will never sway
Yes, my son is my hero and this he will always be
I pray that my love he can feel across the sea
