Lesson 1 --- Basic Everyday Expression's

Here are some basic expressions that are commonly used in Japanese language, and You will also notice them being said through out the Japanese Sailor Moon Show......

Good Morning! Ohayoo Gozaimasu! Ohayoo!
Good Afternoon! Konnichiwa! Konichiwa!
Good Evening! Konbanwa! Konbanwa!
Goodnight! Oyasumi Nasai! Oyasumi!
See you later! Dewa Mata Jaa ne!
Goodbye* (long term) See notes below Sayoonara Sayonara
Pronunciation Chart
A A has an "ah" sound, like in "Mars"
I I has an "ee" sound like in the name "Tina"
U U has an "oo" sound like in "Flute"
E E has an "eh" sound like in "Bed"
O O has an "oh" sound like in "No"
R R is a combination of "R" and "L" that is made when you roll your tongue slightly

*****NOTES*****

*Goodbye ---- Sayonara is used only for long term goodbyes, used when you are not planning on seeing that person for a VERY long time.........

*Formal/Informal ---- In Japan, when speaking to an elder, or someone at a higher level then you, and occasionally when u just meet someone you would use "Formal" speech when talking, while you would use "Informal" speech when talking among friends, a younger person, or someone at a lower level......
