MAJOR AREAS OF EXPERIENCE

Valley Bank and Trust; Valley National Bank; Banc One Services Corp; Lucent Technologies -- Hired in 1983 as Data Communications Specialist in charge of branch on-line network, computer terminal and peripheral installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair in all branches and departments, maintenance and management of all on-line equipment and procedures at the Operations Center for eight years. Promoted to officer of the bank in 1985, spearheaded new telecommunications projects and aided in the decisions leading to successful improvements in the online system of the bank. Transferred to Valley National Bank at merger in the fall of 1991 and assumed the position of Computer Technician II. Duties included the installation and maintenance of all branch on-line equipment: IBM PS/2 Mod 50 CPU series, 4702 Controllers, SCI teller terminals, drives and controllers, Codex modems, and various other equipment. Gained experience both as a field and lab technician. Later, with Banc One Services Corporation, and then with Lucent Technologies, took over maintenance and development of new branch online systems, working with IBM 466DX2 CPU's and related equipment. In July of 1994 took over maintenance of all bank owned Diebold ATM equipment in Utah. Worked closely with the Data Center in Phoenix in troubleshooting and correcting problems with Utah data and voice switches. In November of 1996 took over management of all voice and data projects in the state of Utah. Member of Utah Consolidations Task Force and Business Resumption (disaster recovery) teams. In the fall of 1998 telecommunications department was outsourced from Bank One to AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Assumed new position of Voice Project Manager to work on large projects of national scope.

OTHER AREAS OF EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES

Computer and Clerical -- Basically self taught on computers as work required, assumed clerical duties, including RGMæs, requisitions, bills of lading, shipping and receiving clerk, payroll, personnel records maintenance, tool and stock room setup and control. Shipping and receiving of depot-repairable equipment, computer file setup and maintenance, reports and system listings using keypunch for various branch problems regarding computers and application programs. Developed own computerized logging and database systems to track all Utah based equipment and service call activities. Occasionally called upon to furnish comparison studies based on these records to be used in future considerations of bank equipment needs and development projections. Experienced in various word processing, spreadsheet, graphical design, HTML, and internet applications (all largely self-taught).

Managerial and Business Operations -- As head mechanic of the solid state chassis automated pinsetting equipment in a leading bowling establishment, as well as assistant manager of the business itself, I was responsible for pinsetter personnel, pro shop operations, the daily opening and closing of the business, public relations, business promotion and league formation, customer service, control of all business supplies and equipment inventory, building beautification of two establishments, and offset press operator, doing all of the art work, layout and printing of advertisements, fliers, and business forms for four business concerns, again largely self-taught in this last area.

Instructor -- Have taught classes in German, English, Mathematics, and History on the junior high school level. Private tutor in German, piano, and organ.

Military -- US Army Security Agency, Vietnam Period -- honorable discharge, awarded Top Secret security clearance, unit and individual citations for meritorious service, MOS in High- Speed Morse Interception, German linguist in military land-line operations, and active reservist for two years after regular duty.

Miscellaneous -- Speak, read, and write German, former member of USO-affiliated musical drama group selected to go on tour throughout Germany, spent nearly six years in Germany and Austria, performed weekly organ concert series in Vienna, Austria, church organist and choir member, supporter of various church, civic, and youth organizations, former scoutmaster, and co-founder and accompanist for a nationally recognized Cub Scout Chorus.

PERSONAL DATA

Born June 7, 1944, average height and weight, presently single, five grown children from two previous marriages, enjoy good books, classical music, computers, and many sports including tennis, racquetball, mountain biking, swimming, cross-country skiing, hiking, and camping. Main hobbies include keyboard/vocal performance, working with home recording studio producing soundtracks and other customized recordings, and collecting rare and out of print videos. Amateur radio operator since 1993, captain of aid/communication station for annual Wasatch Front 100 Mile Endurance Run, and communication point and event official for annual Days of '47 Parade in Salt Lake City, Utah for several years.

Considered a fast learner, I enjoy meeting new tasks and challenges. Successful at virtually every endeavor attempted in the past. An agreeable and temperate person, I have always made friends with people around me, both young and old, at my work place and in my neighborhood. I have a well developed sense of humor and spend much of my time laughing. I have always enjoyed learning new things and taking on new tasks, and I hope to continue my lifelong education through formal and informal studies as work permits.
