The Obvious Child (formerly The Obvious Child by Paul Simon)

Well, I was accustomed to a good ep
But maybe I'm a fan who's lost the glow
I don't want to be treated like a fool no more
I hate when I curse at the show
Some people say we never saw them do more than kiss
And I say why
Why deny the obvious child?
Why deny the obvious child?

And in remembering a road trip
Remembering missing time with CSM
Some said those eggs weren't hers
She's got a grey
They'll take away, but hey

I saw them in the ballpark
I saw them in the ballpark

They had a little beer
They watched a little movie;
They talked about choices leading to this moment
Scully fell asleep and got to stay
Suddenly she's dressing, it'd soon be day
Mulder was naked
And now a baby's on the way

Doh, doh, doh, doh
Doh, doh, doh, doh

Well, I've been watching on Sundays
I've been following the sorry excuse for plot
I cringe when the writers resort to flashbacks
Some people say it's all about suspense
But I say
Why deny the obvious child?
Why deny the obvious child?

So I sit by my TV and think to myself
That it's strange Chris can't see the show ending
Scully and Doggett next year
Will simply be wrong
What will she do with the baby??

Mulder's "died"
Three or four times now
Can't they for once just be happy?
No picket fences or mini-vans are required
Just let them walk away into the sunset

Well, I was accustomed to a good ep
But maybe I'm a fan who's lost the glow
I don't want to be treated like a fool no more
I hate when I curse at the show
Some people say the kid'll die, it'll die, it'll die
But I say
I saw 'em in the ball park
Why deny the obvious child?
