New Model Hovercraft

Hello Everyone! I just built this hovercraft yesterday and it is ten times better than the last! The skirt fills up really nice, and it can really haul around at full throttle. The only problem is difficulty in controlling it, but I guess that is how a hovercraft handles anyway. I think that the most amazing thing is that it uses a tiny Norvel .061 for power. That little 1/2a engine is powerful! I bet that the top speed is around 15-20 MPH. I am thinking that I may make some plans for it either for free or for five dollars. What do you guys think of it? E-mail me and tell me your opinions! Well anyways, enough chit chat, here is the stuff you guys want, the pictures!

24" long
13" wide
norvel .061
hitec focus 3ss.

Here is the foam board cut to shape and taped over for stregnth.

Here I attached the engine servo.

Here I cut a hole in the hull for the air splitter so a portion of the thrust air will go into the skirt.

In this shot I attached the thrust duct that I made out of plain old cardboard, That wire is a coat hanger to help give stregnth and support to the duct.

Here it is ready for the skirt with the taped up hull shining in the sun, isn't it cool looking?

Here I attached the rudder servo. All the rudder is is a peice of plywood attached to a drinking straw. I then ran a dowel through the straw and into the hull to attach it to the craft.

Here I am attaching the skirt.

Here it is ready to fly!

Here is detail of the inside. The little black box behind the engine is the reciever and the servo is to the left of that.

here it is flying around at about 12 mph.

Here is another action shot.
