The maps presented here were parpared to accompany the Crosby Family historical documents and essays. The maps are as accurate as was possible with my crude software, but I am sure there are errors. Scale is not indicated.

Regional Maps
Mormon Trail
1846-1869
In addition to the emigration of their families to Utah, Jesse Wentworth Crosby and Edward Bunker both traveled the trail east to serve missions in Great Britain. Jesse captained an emigration company upon his return in 1853. Edward captained the third handcart company of 1856. Edward Bunker also had the distinction of being one of a small handfull of Mormon Battalion members who traveled the trail in an eastward direction before traveling west. Two of Jesse's sons, George H. Crosby and Jesse Wentworth Crosby Jr., drove teams and wagons along the trail in the 1960s as part of the Church trains.

Community Maps
Portland, New York
1822-1867
Joshua Crosby moved his family from Nova Scotia to Portland, New York in 1822. Joshua's wife, Hannah, and their six children joined the L.D.S. Church in 1836-1837. Joshua elected not to join the Church and remained in Portland when his family moved to Nauvoo, Illinois in 1839. Joshua remarried and resided in Portland until he moved to Utah in 1867.
Portland is located in north-central Chautaqua County, New York along the shore of Lake Erie. The county is located on the western edge of the state. The following map locates the county within the state of New York.

Mission Maps
Missions to Canada
1843-1853
Jesse Wentworth Crosby served two missions to the eastern provinces of Canada. He served his first mission with Elder Benjamin Brown from 1843 to 1845. They labored primarily in Jefferson County, New York and New Brunswick, Canada. Jesse then traveled from England to Nova Scotia in 1852, where he served for a year before retuning to Utah.
Missions to England
1850-1894
Both Jesse Wentworth Crosby and his son, Samuel Obed Crosby, served L.D.S. missions to Great Britain in the nineteenth century. Jesse served between 1850-1852, presiding over the Warwickshire Conference of the Church, which included Birmingham and Coventry. Sam Crosby served from 1892 to 1894. He spent most of the first year as a proselyting Elder in the Liverpool Conference. During the second year of his mission he presided over the Manchester Conference.
West Virginia
ca. 1900
John S. Crosby served a mission to the Eastern States between 1905 and 1907. After spending a few weeks in New York City, John was assigned to rural West Virginia where he spent most of his time.
