Squaresoft News

Squaresoft recently announced that Final Fantasy X will NOT be online-capable with their "PlayOnline" system on the PS2, contrary to popular belief. However, this does not affect Final Fantasy XI with its announcement that it will be entirely an online game. This will be on Square's PlayOnline service and will not have an offline counterpart which may sway some RPGers to not buy FF11.
Also, Square recently ran a poll on their Square Europe site which asked which next-gen console they would rather see games on. The overall winner was not PS2 but the Gamecube being created by Nintendo.
In my opinion this could be a good thing for Square. As of yet I have not seen the PS2 but if they do decide to associate themselves with Nintendo once again I believe we could see a powerhouse gaming company emerge from the depths of Square. They have shown signs of increasing their game-base by releasing games that have not been RPGs, some of which include racing, fighting, and other games.
To cap off this news bit, let it be known that Squaresoft shall once again rule the gaming world!
Well... I hope so anyway.
