Wow, an RPG for the 64? That is amazing! :) LOL. Well, this game is the sequel to Super Mario RPG for the SNES. This looks to be a fun game, cheesy graphics and all. The graphics are "quasi 2D" - they look like paper cutouts, hence the title "Paper Mario".
If you look at the screenshots, it looks alot like paper! Maybe this means that on the PM cartridge there will be more GAME than GRAPHICS... :) That should be kewl. You know what these graphics really remind of? Yoshi's Story for the N64 (EWWWW!!!) - You may have played this game and if you have you know it is a one hour game. I beat it in less than an hour, so it is pretty easy. There is even a boss that you have to hit with your tongue - and each time you do, you gain life! That is absolutely the dumbest thing ever... But back to Paper Mario. The big diff between YS and PM graphics is that Yoshi Story has 3D graphics in a 2D world while Paper Mario has 2D graphics in a 3D world. Cool, eh! :) Confirmed characters include: Mario, Luigi, Peach (Does anyone remember when she was called Princess Toadstool? I do.), Toad, and Bowser. SMRPG favorites Mallow and Geno will at least make an appearance, if not more. I'm hoping for more. Also coming back from SMRPG are TIMED ATTACKS! HOORAY! Those were so cool, because you could inflict more damage if you timed your button pressing just right. PM should have a rich storyline, complex puzzles, and the normal turn based battle system. Finally, it looks like Nintendo did something right in the last 3 years. :) Well look for more stuff soon. Paper Mario is slated to be released December 26 (right after Christmas) 2000.
