Marle is not the strongest character out there, but her healing spells are invaluable.

How To Get The Valkerye:

When all of the monsters have been cleared from the Northern Ruins and the floors have been repaired (get tools from the carpenter in Choras in 1000 AD and give them to the carpenter in 600 AD), you will gain access to several treasures. When chests say that something inside is reacting to the pendant in 600AD, do not open them. Travel to 1000 AD. The contents of the chests will have become more powerful. Marle's Valkerie is one of these treasures.
