Matthias is an awfully attractive young man when he walked into my office. He is very attractive, and very smart, but seems to be at an incedible loss for his family is somewhat poor. He told me he preferably sends all his money back to his parents in New Mexico, because his father is inbetween jobs, right now. He comes from a very large family, and his parents were once illegal immigrants from Mexico, granted amnesty before he was born. His mother went to school and became a nurse, and his father was one of the construction workers on the hydrants of the Delphi Colony, before it was bombed. He left home at 18, and joined the Navy. He taught ballroom dancing for a while to make extra money to send home for a while. Very determined.

For the most part, grew up healthy. He went through periods of time when his family didn't have health insurance, until his mother finished her RN. He had his vaccinations, with help from the state, as a child. Now, an adult, he has only had a few minor injuries to his record, such as a sprained ankle and broke his nose once on shore leave, and several of his friends he went out with that night came back with other various injuries, mysteriously, although he won't say exactly what happened. A bar fight, I'm guessing. There were no arrests connected to him or the other men involved. He is currently quitting smoking, wearing a nicotine patch.

A very determined individual, but I sort of find him a little bitter. He is quite the charmer, known around the base as an incredible dancer in swing and Latino dancing. He had several girlfriends and dancing partners, but he currently went single when he was called to help finish the seaHawk, and was stationed there.

Even though he's of Mexican decent, he looks somewhat anglo. He's got somewhat stream-lined features. He says he got it from his Mom, who is 1/2 white and half columbian.

He admits he "loves to tango with a beautiful woman," something his mother taught him, but says he doesn't really have time for much else.

He is excellent with electronics, thus his assignment on the seaHawk. He speaks spanish fluently.

BACKGROUND:

He says that his mother inspired him greatly, and despite pregnancies that seemed to happen every few years, she made sure her kids were hard-workers but also knew how to dance the traditional dances of their "old country." He says that his life isn't exactly easy, but he loves his family immensely, despite that they have had hard times. I felt that he gets a little bitter about things, but he's learning to cover it up, or atleast not say anything about it.
