Step 8: Get letters of recommendation
Most law schools require at least two letters of recommendation. These letters can be mailed directly to the law schools or sent through the LSDAS. All schools accept letters sent through LSDAS and only a select few prefer that they be sent directly to the school. Ocassionally, a recommender will write a school-specific letter. In this case, it needs to be sent directly to the school. LSDAS sends photocopies of the letters sent to them to each school that you apply to. The LSDAS accepts up to three letters of recommendation.Law school admission councils are interested in what kind of student you are. They prefer letters from teachers that know you well. Admission councils are not interested in hearing from lawyers, judges, and politicians that barely know you telling them how good of an attorney you will be. Although a letter from an employer that knows you well would be helpful, Admission councils are mostly interested in what kind of student you are, not what kind of attorney a famous politician thinks you will be. I had two professors and my mission president write letters for me.
