The rain is flowing down.
And no one is around.
Running away from your arms into the dark.
I hear you scream my name as if it were a demon's bark.
My tears and pain mingle with intense fears and rain.
The night shifts and closes in around me.
The darkness reaches out.
I can't get free.
The sky thunders as I shiver from the cold.
Unholy light flashes.
Then blackness takes hold.
I gasp for air before I helplessly sink.
All I feel is pain.
I can't see, I blink.
Out of the night I see your shining eyes.
You reach out to me as if to answer my silent cries.
I rush to your warm, protective embrace.
You lift my chin to wipe the tears from my face.
Your arms comfort me in an unexplainable way.
You hold me close whispering softly to wash my fears away.
Then I remember why I ran.
And the familiar fears come back again.
I try to pull out of your grasp in a panic.
Your eyes flash as you growl, "Not again!"
You tighten your hold talking quick.
Your voice lowers as you threaten, "I won't let you walk away.
Like there's nothing left to say.
Can't you just talk to me?
I'm here and always will be.
What do I have to do?
To make you realize I love you!"
Yet I still pull away.
I just can't stay.
