Beauty Within A Fumbling World Of Choas

The ebony tree stretches its
Massive limbs into
The brilliant sunlight
Where a tiny black bird hides
Far beneath the roof of
The darkening dismal canopy

A stalky elk struts along
And a rabbit hops by
As a timid frog disappears
Under the shadow of
The pale green lily pad
In a creek unknown to you and me

After time it'll run dry
Then they'll leave
And everything will change
Like so much else
In this traitorous
Playpen of destruction
This fumbling world of chaos

I turn now from the simple pleasures
Aloft in the beauty of the place
