THE FUNERAL

the day was adorned with sunlight
puffs of white
oblivious
clouds drifting
waves clashing against the shore
a cliff
high, rugged
with an infinite height

that was where I fell
or rather pushed

my body obeying
the principles of gravity
feet pointed down
hair raised
as if I was stretched
like a rubber band

you stood above
and smiled
awaiting the landing
the splash of water
the sound rising from
below: the victory

I became the headline
for one day
in bold type
with a picture

but then only to end up
a crumbled page
of yesterday's paper
left on the streets
stepped on by living feet
a pair of which belonged to you

you came to the funeral
tissues were stained with your tears
I watched you
I watched you
