FOOL
In my mind, why must you conquer
Empires of infinite time and space?
With superficial honey-sweet words as your army,
You mesmerize my surrendered soul.
Good Judgment, preside and end this invasion.
A coward, I must not be. I shall
Dare challenge the invincibilities of these empires,
Root out Cupid's arrow from my heart.
Ah, yet who am I, but a living fool
Of my own deceit, to compose notes of hope
For silent song, free of your eternal voice.
Alone, time could have been the remedy
For a wound of a destined arrow.
Instead, the power of each passing day and night
Seems idle when dwarfed by the memories of you.
My attempts to destroy your lingering image
From my dreams, do not differ from
A child's attempts to reach in the waters
Under darkened skies and pluck out
The glistening reflection of the moon.
Fool. Fool. Fool.
