DREAM ROSE
A delicate rose,
Embracing my dream,
Cupped in my hands,
So vibrant and naive...
I handed you my dream,
In blind faith that
You would cup it in your hands
And let its petals
Nestle against your flesh,
Tingling your skin
As the dream rose seeps through your cells,
Mingling with your blood
And follow your veins to your heart.
If only I had known
You have clogged blood
And hands of steel.
If only I had known.
I handed you my dream
And it cracked with
The touch of your fingertips,
Crumbled at your feet.
If only I had known,
I would not have dreamed.
