Dragon Wings

Dragon wings, Dragon wings,
Witches wizards and other things?
A coiled tail, tiny ears,
Velvety skin and wings so sheer.
She soared, guided to a land unknown,
But conspicuous to her, Will she be alone?
Sharp spines, nostrils breathing fire,
The seraphs join her to ease the ire.
Iridescent wings beating so strong,
She spots her site now. It’s been so long!
Home again. She’s been away,
But this is heaven to dragons. Dragon cay.
Electric bolts welcome her as she descends,
Eyes dark and moist, she sees much to mend.
Overgrown foliage on her loved one’s grave,
A sepulcher of ivy. She must be brave.
With coveted strength, she raises her head,
Composure unmatched, unafraid of the dead.
Her wings clear the thick ivy, replacing the nettles,
On the steps of her beloved’s home, she now lays soft petals.
Then shaking her head smoke and fire are brandished,
Loathing death one last time, once again anguished.
Eternal life is supposed for dragons.
To valiant battles of breathing fire,
Of tromping through the muck and mire.
Who would believe that dragons’ wings,
Could lie silent in repose to never sing?
