Parents, fans, and players sure got their Wednesday evening's worth on January 14th in the long awaited football banquet for the 2003 CIF Champion Warriors.

As in most championship seasons, there were awards-a-plenty for the mountain men, notably the departing seniors, who were instrumental in orchestrating the Warriors in championship form from start to finish.  The award winners included Tyler McCann, AJ Barcelona, and Mike Wright receiving the Warrior Award, Chris Bowman for Offensive Line MVP, Cameron Wood and BJ Corey for Most Improved, Zack Harris for Defensive Back MVP, Vince Flores for Outstanding Defensive Lineman, and Anthony Scott for Defensive MVP.  On the offense, Josh Lange and Jeremy Clark receiving the coaches award for their accolades on offense (as well as defense), and Kris Haycock and Tanner Hutchinson shared the team's MVP awards.  Tanner Hutchinson was also presented a special plaque by thswarriors.com and the Tehachapi News in celebration of his achievements as a varsity player.

As the awards ceremony came to a close, the players surprised the coaching staff with some awards to give out of their own, giving Coach Steve Denman, Pat Snyder, Bill Carll, and Dennis Ruggles Warrior embroidered jackets as a thank you for their hard work and dedication throughout the year.

The night ended with a championship video, highlighting some of the memorable plays on the year from the game films and some of the press time the Warriors received on Hometown Sports, CBS Channel 29, Bakersfield.  A copy of the championship video can be obtained by contacting Coach Denman or his support staff at the administration office at the high school...a blank video will need to be given to THS in order to receive a copy.
