TEHACHAPI NEWS - Spearheaded by standout NFL players Antonio Gates and Otis Grigsby, six Tehachapi Warriors recently participated in an intense week-long offense and defense camp at San Diego in preparation for the upcoming football season.

Representing Mountain Football were senior Alek Taliulu, juniors Jason Hail, Garrett Coontz, Josh Strauss, and Dominic Chavarria, and freshman Niko Taliulu.

Along with a cluster of NFL player representation with the before mentioned Gates and Grigsby , the San Diego Offense-Defense camp has also had instruction led by current New York Jets Head Coach Eric Mangini and Houston Texas Assistant Coach Mike Sherman.

Some of the alumni of the prestigious camp include current NFL stars Ben Roethlisberger, Chad Johnson, and Champ Bailey, who all attended the camp in their respective high school years.

The camp itself had three sessions per day from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on five consecutive days. On the last day of camp instruction, campers are placed into teams and play in a “bowl” format to showcase what they have learned during the week-long instruction.

Alek Taliulu, Hail, and Coontz will all play linebacker for the Warriors next season, while Strauss will be at running back and Chavarria on the line of scrimmage. Freshman Niko Taliulu is anticipated to join the junior varsity ranks this upcoming year.
