TEHACHAPI NEWS -
The rushers seemed to come
from everywhere in the Tehachapi arsenal.
No matter who it was, it
seemed every back got in on the action for Mountain Football en route to
a 49-28 victory over Burroughs-Ridgecrest last Friday night.
Tehachapi racked up a
staggering 548 yards rushing on offense, which actually would have
nearly crossed the 700-yard threshold if it wasn’t for a few penalties
that negated long runs at various stages of the contest.
In the box score, Josh
Strauss led the Warriors with 187 yards, followed by Adam Mullen with
148 yards and Kelly Lorenz with 136 yards, all on the ground. Lorenz had
three touchdowns in the game while Mullen had two scores.
Burroughs opened the game
with the first touchdown of the night on a one-yard score, but from
there it was all-Warriors, with Lorenz scoring twice and Mullen once to
open up a 21-7 lead before the start of the second quarter.
Tehachapi’s Garrett Coontz, Jeff
Waldram and Kurtis
Knudson had interceptions in the contest, while Derek Lange recovered an
on-side kick fumble in the first half.
Also picking up notable
rushing nights for Tehachapi was Angelo Loli,
who had four carries for 37 yards and the Warriors’ final score on a 15
yard run, and Will Clark, who had a four-yard touchdown run and six
carries for 33 yards.
Mountain Football’s
Ehren Ochsenrider converted on a PAT and a
two point run, while Mullen had two PAT’s
and a two point run score of his own.
Next up for Tehachapi will be
a game against Righetti – Santa Maria in a
homecoming contest. Righetti, who also has
the mascot of the Warriors, comes into the contest 2-0 after a
convincing 35-7 win over South-Bakersfield last Friday.
The game against
Righetti will be at 7:30 p.m. this Friday
night at Coy Burnett Field.

BRAVES WIN AGAIN AGAINST BURROS,
46-13
On the Braves first four series on
defense, Tehachapi recorded an interception and forced
a three-and-out on three separate occasions in an eventual 46-13 demolition over
Burroughs last Friday afternoon.
Dougan
Patience capped Tehachapi’s first three series on offense with touchdowns, and
after three successful two-point tries the Braves jumped out to a quick 24-0
lead to start the first quarter. Chris Rush connected with Jesse Olofson, Ryan
Dalmas with Matt Santos, and Patience a run on the two-point conversions.
Tehachapi’s Max Clark led all rushers
with 108 yards on 11 carries, while Olofson had 71 yards on 12 attempts and Cal
Weeks five carries for 70 yards. John Cramer fueled the Braves game on both
offense and defense, registering nine carries for 57 yards on offense and five
tackles and a fumble recovery on defense.
Other defensive standouts included
Brennen Davis and Erick Erickson getting five
tackles apiece, Nick Howell three tackles and an interception,
Niko Taliulu with a
sack, and Ryan Dalmas with an interception.
The Braves had a scary moment in the
first half on Dalmas’s interception at the 9:38 mark
of the second quarter when the talented back was knocked out cold after hitting
the turf on the pick play at the Tehachapi 44-yard line. Thankfully, Dalmas
came-to moments later and was alert to the trainers. Dalmas gave
a thumbs up to his teammates and the crowd as he was
taken by ambulance to the hospital for further observations.
“Basically what happened is the
defender got his shoulder pads right underneath Ryan’s ribcage, and it sucked
the air out of him and when he hit the ground he was out cold for a minute,”
said father Jody Dalmas. “But he came to, and he was alert, knew the score,
things like that. It wasn’t a helmet-to-helmet hit which was good. We took him
to the hospital, and they did a CAT scan, checked his spleen, everything came
back negative. He should be ready to go this week, he
was doing fine over the weekend.”
Tehachapi’s record now sits at 2-1 on
the season heading into their homecoming match up with
Righetti this Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. at Coy Burnett Field.
