Posted 09-09-06 TEHACHAPI NEWS - A wind gust at 35mph from the southwest made for mountain-like conditions for the visiting Tehachapi Warriors, who took advantage with a road victory over defending Southern Section Division VIII Champion Burroughs, 27-10 last Friday evening. Tehachapi (1-1), a run-oriented team, caught the Burros (0-2) flat-footed on their first offensive possession by scoring on a 30-yard pass and catch from Levi Lantz to Stefan Bekker. The Warriors later added on a safety in the period when a punt block from Garrett Coontz found the back of the Burrough’s endzone. Tehachapi Quarterback Levi Lantz out-gained Burroughs gunslinger Troy Spargo in the first quarter, connecting on two passes for 38 yards, compared to Spargo’s 30 yards on three completions. Lantz also recorded a second passing touchdown on the evening, when he found Louie Olofson open for a 24-yard touchdown catch on the Warrior’s second drive of the game. The touchdown was nullified however on a holding penalty at the Tehachapi line of scrimmage.
