BRAVES STYMIE THE DOUBLE WING, 25-8

TEHACHAPI NEWS - Adam Mullen rushed for 202 yards and four touchdowns to help Tehachapi record their seventh win on the year in a 25-8 win over Wasco.

“Wasco was tough but we got a couple of big breaks there in the beginning with the turnovers that set up our scores,” said head coach Ryan Grimes.

The mentioned turnovers helped Mullen put the game away early in the first quarter with two touchdown runs of 58 and 15 yards, later adding a three-yard run in the second quarter and a 74-yard run in the fourth quarter to put the game away.

“Teams tend to key in on Mullen so we try and mix it up a little with the offense,” added Grimes. “But even though teams gun for him but he’s such an incredible runner you have to give him the ball as much as possible.”

On defense the Braves kept the Wasco double-win in check, led by Jason Hail’s 11 tackles and a fumble recovery. Other standout performances included Dominic Chavarria with six tackles, Eric Harroun with five tackles, Joey Hack with four tackles, and Kurtis Knudson, Cody Roebuck, and Chris Fimbres with three tackles each.

On offense, Armando Salcido had eight carries for 39 yards and Kurtis Knudson had three completions for 48 yards. Bert Hall had a key 18-yard reception on Tehachapi’s third scoring drive to help set up a first-and-goal and eventual Mullen touchdown run.

“We want to end the season with a good win, we want to keep the players up and ready for the game,” Grimes said. “If they play the way they should we should be fine.”
