SWE Minutes from 9-6-04

-Future events
-Thursday the 9th 5:30 pm Thai Food Dinner in the courtyard in front of Sprague
-Monday the 13th 5-8 pm Activities Fair Jaqua Quad Scripps--no SWE meeting
-Ordering t-shirts sometime this year
-Social Bonding event for new members (October?)
-Miss SWE (usually before Halloween, maybe around 20th of October)
-March 5th 2005 (Saturday) WEST Conference (already have rooms reserved)
-Prof dinners throughout year (still have funds)
-Potential repeat of last year’s JPL tour sometime this year
-Imagineer Tour at Disney land sometime this year?

-Thai food dinner this Thursday the 9th at 5:30 pm in the courtyard in front of Sprague
-Gwen will make the advertising sign to go on the front of Platt
-Alice will email the freshman, sophomores, SWE, and engineers
-Laura will email the engineering faculty
-Bassman says to personally invite the faculty if you see them
-Catherine will check on the availability of the courtyard and let Gwen, Laura, and Alice Know
-Shawna will order the food (Mix Bowl Thai, a little more than last year)
-Jamie will pick up the food and some ice
-Lily and Catherine will check on how many cups, plates, and serving utensils we have and get more if there’s not enough, along with soda

-Activities fair for the 5-C ‘s in Jaqua Quad at Scripps this upcoming Monday the 13th from 5-8
-Alice will send an email out (to swe-l?): no SWE meeting, but that members and interested people should drop by the booth during the fair
-Kristina and Lindsay Muth will be at the booth 5-6 pm
-Tracy Fox and Teresa will be there 6-7 pm
-Shawna and Erin will be there 7-8 pm
-Sara and Catherine will make the sign for the booth and Sara can copy the signup sheet that Kristina has—they will meet Kristina at the booth with both items

-Top Ten T-shirts
-We usually sell them every other year, so this year we should sell them
-Make shirts in baby tees and top ten guy/unisex tees? (“top ten” may not fit on baby tees)
-Sara and Catherine will meet with Lindsay about the shirts
-If you have a strong opinion about colors etc, talk to them
-Underwear close to Christmas time? No rush, but a lot of support for selling it this year.

-Social event
-Imaginer tour may take too long to be a good open social event
-Kristina will look into tour of nearby bowling alley and bowling afterward, needs reminding
-October considered, Kristina will see how long it takes to make reservations

-Prof dinners
-The female Prof. Harris? Wait until next month and/or invite her on the social outing—she’s very overwhelmed right now—Lindsay should subscribe her to swe-l, Bassman will tell her we’re doing that

-Also someone should tell Cardenas and Orwin the date for WEST now
-Guest speakers will come
-Officers should be registered on swe.org, only way to claim membership on resumes
