SWE Minutes from 1-31-05

Upcoming events:
-dessert social Friday 2-11 @4:30-6:00 pm
-WEST Saturday 3-5

WEST helpers
-Those assigned to profs for workshops were supposed to turn in their info sheets during this meeting.
-If you don't have it (only S. Harris left), it's okay, but we need the t-shirt sizes soon to order them.
-Sent around a signup sheet to see who's available to help out with WEST during all or part of the day.
-Alice will send an email out to swe-l for WEST signups. Those interested in helping needs to email ltian@hmc.edu with email address, t-shirt size, name, and time available. Deadline for signup this Thursday 2-3 (bc of t-shirt orders).
-Showed folders that we will be stuffing the meeting before WEST for WEST, might look for more stuff to put in it on the SWE website
-People should also recruit any other girls at Mudd for lunchtime during WEST to talk to the girls attending. Incentive: Togo's subs!

Dessert Social
-We will be having a dessert social for incoming, prospective, or declared engineering majors interested in SWE next Friday 2-11 at 4:30-6:00 pm.
-It will be in the engineering lounge. We should book the lounge from about 3:30 pm to 7 pm.
-Gena will look up E4 and E80 girls and will send the names to Alice.
-Alice will email E4 girls, E80 girls, and swe-l about the social.
-Lily and Sara will email the profs by the end of this week about the social.
-Jamie, Cassy, and Kristina will buy dessert (Mudd pies, cream puffs, and fruit pie), milk, and water.
-Someone needs to give Jamie the amount of $ to spend and the approximate number of people attending.

Post-WEST Sleepover
-Jamie S. talked to Orwin about the sleepover date.
-Orwin will look at her schedule and get back to us.
-Jamie S. should email Lily or Sara when she hears from Orwin.

Other Things
-We got the Champions of Humanity Award and were recognized for the Corning Award!
-Kim and Heather from CTG could come talk to us during lunch on a Tuesday. There was a fair amount of interest, so Sarah will see what day is good for them.
-Kristina will invite the financial adviser she knows to come talk to us about personal finance on 2-14.
-The seminar speaker this Wednesday is a cool Mudd alumnus woman in the telecommunications industry and can have dinner with us in Platt (she has no time to go out) afterwards. The seminar is at 4:15 pm in Galileo-Edwards, and dinner will be at 5:15ish in the a conference room. Bassman took names of ppl interested, but anyone interested should email her.
-E-mentoring program: The mentors should contact people who signed up by late February.
-Cream Puffs next week!!!
