NEWS FLASH: PERKINS TO NAME HIS LADY FRIEND GLENDA DEESE AS NEW POLICE CHIEF

This website has learned from a source close to "his honor" that Perkins will name Glenda Deese as Selma's new police chief. This is what the Mayor has wanted to do for the past few months, but he had to figure out a way to do it.
First, he convinced the majority of the City Council to hire Ms. Deese at $50 an hour as a "consultant". This is a complete waste of taxpayer's money!
Second, he had to figure out how to make the public think he really was looking for someone outside of Selma to be Chief - as the $48,000 police study had recommended. Thus, he went through the charade of spending $50,000 on a firm to select finalists, bringing them to town, and hiring Deese to "consult" between the new chief and Chief Martin.
Third, he had to make sure none of the 3 finalists would accept the job. This would leave only Ms. Deese as a candidate for the job. He figured people would accept her in order to be rid of his first appointee, Martin.
So how did he rid himself of the 3 finalists who came? OUR SOURCES TELL US HE LOW BALLED THE SALARY HE OFFERED THE THREE SO THAT ALL THREE TURNED THE SALARY DOWN. Although the Council had authorized up to $80,000 for a salary, Perkins offered so much less than that to the candidates that all of them turned the job down.
Now Perkins can do what he wanted to do all along...appoint him another woman to head a city department. He will say this will cost the taxpayers less because Ms. Deese is retired from the State of Alabama and can not make over a certain amount of money and still draw retirement. Perkins thinks people will accept anyone and any reason to get a new Chief.
Our question is, WHY DIDN'T PERKINS HIRE MS. DEESE BEFORE THE CITY SPENT $50,000 ON A CHARADE, acting as if Perkins was really involving the public in his decision. He is a phony and should be removed from office immediately!
*The only reason we bring the fact that she is a woman is that Perkins only hires women that he can manipulate. We are NOT saying women would not be able to do this job or ANY job for any reason.*
