_If you can remember the names of Selma Police Officers CARLOS JONES and FREDERICK WALKER....you may be hearing the names of these officers again soon... It is said that CARLOS JONES is one of Mayor Perkins and Chief Martin's favorites WHO WORKS WITH THE TRUSTBUILD PROGRAM and will be going into homes and schools to interact with children and adults... It is said that FREDERICK WALKER is one of our city's newest detectives, promoted by Chief Martin over more qualified and experienced officers.
_Why companies in Selma continue to close and lay off workers? We understand 70 people at the Cigar Plant are losing their jobs this week, that CSX is moving their operation out of Selma and that the Recycling Center is considering moving out of town because they put scrap at their place of business one day - it is stolen - and they are being offered the opportunity to buy it back the next day. Can't the Mayor see what is happening to our once lovely city while he wastes his time with "pie in the sky" projects like building a $40 million high school? AND SPEAKING OF PERKINS: IT IS TIME THAT HE COMES CLEAN WITH THE CITIZENS OF SELMA - (1) Is he sick and having to be out of town weekly to get treatment or (2) Does he have some other reason for only being in his office 3 days most weeks, leaving the City of Selma to be run by a group of overpaid, un-elected people in City Hall?
_WHY THE CITY OF SELMA AND POLICE DEPARTMENT LIED TO THE STATE OF ALABAMA AND FBI ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF CRIME IN SELMA? We do not believe these are the correct figures for crime in Selma for 2004 or 2005; yet this is what the City sent in.

Vehicle Theft 2005: 140 2004: 213
Larceny 2005: 1140 2004: 1656
Members of the Selma Police Department have told this website that there is no way there was a 34% decrease in crime from 2004 to 2005...WE ARE POSITIVE THAT THE NUMBER OF MURDERS ARE INCORRECT FOR 2004 AND 2005, WHICH CALLS IN QUESTION THE TRUTHFULNESS OF THE REMAINDER OF THE FIGURES THE CITY SENT IN TO THE STATE AND THE FBI.
_For the 36 cities grouped with Selma in the official crime statistics, only 1 (Anniston with 24,000 people) had MORE crime than Selma. CAN'T THE MAYOR SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING AND THAT PEOPLE ARE LEAVING SELMA BECAUSE OF HIS LACK OF COMMITMENT TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE.... many of the Mayor's egregious acts would be overlooked if he would give some time and energy to protecting the people and making Selma a safe place to live.
_Why Selma turned in false numbers to the State and FBI about THE NUMBER OF CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICERS FOR OUR CITY? The city said there were 51 male sworn officers and 8 female sworn officers on the police force PLUS 25 civilian workers with the department...we DO NOT believe there are 59 sworn officers in the Selma Police Department and WILL GLADLY PUBLISH THE NAMES AND PUBLICLY APOLOGIZE ON THIS SITE TO CHIEF MARTIN IF THE CITY WILL FURNISH THEIR NAMES TO US VIA E-MAIL... WHAT ABOUT IT CHIEF??
_Why whoever furnished these false statistics about CRIME AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT STILL WORKS FOR THE CITY?
