PERKINS, CRENSHAW, AND SAM RANDOLPH VIOLATE PUBLIC TRUST
2-25-08

"Unrepresentative government led by unqualified people" is the only way to describe the administration of Mayor Perkins and his puppets such as Crenshaw and Sam Randolph. In a civilized society, one would think that a City Councilman who would charter a bus (with City funds?) to take voters to a gambling casino in Philadelphia, MS, would be run out of office by decent people; yet, Sam Randolph periodically does this. His latest venture to the casino last Saturday was limited to voters who would vote for the Bond Issue on Tuesday. We find his actions to be disgraceful and are asking which City fund may have paid for this and the other buses Randolph has chartered for trips to the casino.

While Randolph is only letting those who will vote FOR the Bond Issue ride his charter, the Mayor, Crenshaw, and other City employees this very minute are running off thousands of copies of MARKED BALLOTS for the Bond Issue and color flyers to be used at the polls tomorrow. All of this is being done by City employees, on City time, using City equipment, and City facilities.

We are told, in a show of unmitigated gall which characterizes her very existance, that Crenshaw has the City Council Secretary folding and stapling together 1,000 of these marked ballots and flyers. What a waste of time to tie up the Council Secretary in this way for hours. Can't President Evans do something about this abuse of the Council's Secretary?

And who is paying for the radio ads on 105.3 promoting the Bond Issue? The Mayor's Executive Assistant Darlene Rudulph hurriedly reads the tag line at the end of the ads, mumbling something about Mayor Perkins and Wards 5, 6, 7, and 8. To whose discretionary funds are these ads being charged? The public has the right to know this. Of course, Ms. Rudulph did the radio spots from City facilities on City time. Isn't this illegal? We also suspet that City equipment was used to record the spots.

Speaking of the spots for the Bond Issue, the one we heard starts with Scripture and actually has the gall to compare Selma to Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. We know that Nehemiah was on a mission for God, but we are not sure who the City Hall crowd are on a mission for.

It is interesting, since Perkins and his reverends, have chosen to inject God and Scripture into the Bond Issue election and run around saying "To God Be The Glory" to remind Perkins and the good reverends that the consistent teaching of the Bible is for people to strive TO GET OUT OF DEBT, not to go into debt for $25 million. If he really wants to bring glory to God, then he should do what God says in His Word and strive to get this City OUT of debt, NOT to put us into a 25 year debt. His actions in putting us into debt are clearly contrary to the teachings of God.

WE URGE EVERYONE TO GO TO THE POLLS TUESDAY AND VOTE AGAINST THE BOND ISSUE!
