REAL TALK RADIO REALLY TALKS UP PERKINS FOR CONGRESS
5-22-09

Not unexpectedly, Gwen Brown and her obnoxious Mark Duke annointed sidekick, Ronald Smith, gave a rousing endorsement to James Perkins, Jr. for Dongress on Thursday's Real Talk Radio program. It was not sufficient for these two to merely announce that Perk, who ran Selma into the ground for 8 years, was going to announce for Congress on Friday, they voiced their enthusiasm for Perk, what a great job he did as Mayor, and even wondered if they could get off the program Friday to attend the announcement. Obviously, neither of them is aware of the potential that Selma had in 2000 when Perkins became Mayor and ruined the city financially, turned people against one another, let the city's infrastructure deteriorate almost beyond repair, and generally caused such division in the city that he lost the recent election by more than 1,000 votes.

What Mark Duke and his Freedom Foundation "volunteers" have done is completely alienate themselves from at least 75% of the people in Selma. Even if the non-existent racial divide they seek to heal existed, they would be the one group of people who have no chance to bring unity and harmony to the city or the races. Frankly, we don't believe either blacks or whites in Selma are caught in the 1965 time warp that Duke wishes existed. Apparently, he yearns for the city to be the way it once was so he can appear as the saving messiah.

Almost no whites and very few blacks in Selma are fooled by Duke, Gwen Brown and Ronald Smith. Duke's lack of support can be traced to both his religious views, which are heretical and cultist, and his political views, which are contrary to the 57% of blacks and whites who threw Perkins out of office. The day Duke and his carpetbaggers from Colorado put Perkins for Mayor signs in thier yards was the day that he wore out his welcome in Selma. The fact that the House of God Church has been exposed as a cult, which denies that Jesus is God and which in effect teaches that salvation is by works and that believers can reach sinless perfectionism in this life, has left Duke with very little support in the community. This continued infatuation with James Perkins, Jr. is beyond our understanding.

If they want to do a good work, they can finish that eyesore on Broad Street, the Teppers Building. With the infighting which is going on among the children of the late Martin Luther King over money, we dount Duke will get their permission to name his building what he wished, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center. We don't think we have ever seen a person so obsessed with wishing things were the way they used to be in Selma pre-1965 so that he can save us from ourselves. The Dukester needs to realize that the Selma he wishes existed so he could change it changed a long time ago. He needs to start living in the present rather than in a past that is gone with the wind.

Are some HOG and FF members leaving town? We still haven't heard where Duke's "legal wife" has gone. If anyone knows, please let us know.
