TIME TO CALL JEAN MARTIN AGAIN
10-12-07

All residents of Ward 3 and other concerned citizens are urged to call Councilwoman Jean Martin and ask her TO VOTE AGAINST THE PERKINS REELECTION BOND ISSUE. It appears that once again Mrs. Martin will be the 5th and deciding vote either for or against the Mayor's reelection Bond Issue. The Crenshaw 4 will support ANYTHING the Mayor proposes. It appears the other 4 Council members have grave reservations about the Mayor's Bond Issue.

Mrs. Martin has given some indication that she favors the Bond Issue. We understand that some of her favorite projects like the Library and Old Depot may get some money from the Bond Issue; however, THE OVERRIDING ISSUE IS WHETHER SHE WANTS TO HELP REELECT PERKINS AS MAYOR BY GIVING HIM FROM $4-$12 MILLION DOLLARS TO SPEND RIGHT BEFORE THE CITY ELECTION.

Who was it that cut the Library funding in the first place? PERKINS! What a hypocrite now to act like a savior of what he tried to destroy! The small amounts of money Mrs. Martin's projects "might" get will pale in comparison to the MILLIONS PERKINS WILL SPEND TO BUY VOTES IN OTHER AREAS.

Again, the primary issue is not that the Library, Old Depot, or other museums may get some funding froma Bond Issue. The issue is, DO YOU WANT TO HELP GET PERKINS REELECTED? In our hearts, we believe that Mrs. Martin will answer "no" to that question. We urge you to call her and nicely ask her to NOT JOIN THE CRENSHAW BLOCK and not put the city in $12 million worth of debt just to reelect a Mayor who has ruined our once lovely city.
