Throwing Money Away
8-31-06

This website must admit that the Selma Times Journal editorial concerning the tower echos what this website has said before. The court has ruled so accept it and lets move on. The money for the appeal will be thrown to the wind. If the city wins, which is very doubtful, it will only serve to strain further the relationship between the city and the county. Why not use the money to fight poverty, court economic development, increase police numbers to fight crime, repair city property, or repair the streets.

The mayor stated that the appeal was filed Friday. This was before the council meeting on Monday 8-28-06. Did he have an illegal meeting with the Crenshaw block to get authorization to appeal? Keep in mind the council did not meet until three days after his remarks in the STJ. He was not in the work session to get their opinion. Where did he get the permission to appeal and put a firm on retainer in Montgomery to represent the appeal? Or, just by chance, did he know that the Crenshaw block would support his decision blindly? This website feels this money is being wasted to satisfy the mayor's ego and his search for total power and control. The Attorney General needs to speak to this mayor and the Crenshaw Block and explain what the term, "for the people, and of the people" means and should mean to the citizens.

The ownership of this city must be given back to the people of Selma then "We Will Be Blessed."
