Those who talk about unity in the city are actually the ones who are causing the division here. A couple of our favorite dividers are Hate Radio 105.3 and the local House of God/Freedom Party/Random Acts Cult. One can hardly listen to these people 5 minutes without hearing them call for unity in the City while they are the primary reason that division is so rampant here. For example, take the 50,000 watts of Hate known as 105.3 and listen to what the defeated and disgraced ex-councilman Johnnie Leashore did last week.
(1) While Becky Nichols, library director, was attending funeral services for her mother, Leashore was on Hate radio blasting Becky and the library because the library is not open 24/7.
(2) While Councilman Tucker's wife was near death and being placed in a nursing home last week, Leashore was on Hate 105.3 calling Tucker names such as Do Boy Tucker.
(3) While Council President Dr. Allen was receiving treatment for an illness, Leashore was berating her for not being present to vote on the street closing.
Rose and Hank, Chestnut family: You want unity and peace in this community. Don't expect any as long as you continue the present direction of your radio station.
Another divider in Selma is the House of God/Freedom Foundation/Random Acts of Theatre Cult which has invaded our city from Colorado and is duping many local citizens, primarily minorities, to join with them in their nefarious activities. The cult has only one goal: to take over Selma and especially its government. Their lastest misadventure is a "Dancing on the Bridge" Event which was originally scheduled during the Saturday and Sunday of the Battle of Selma. What a coincidence! The FFHOG (Freedom Foundation House of God) website said they had the full support of the City and that the fire department was furnishing them the bucket truck so they could get a great picture of everyone dancing on the bridge for UNITY. They said that the bridge would be closed on Saturday and Sunday morning for their dance. We can not believe that Mayor Evans, the Fire Department, and the City could get sucked into this propaganda charade. And especially during the Battle of Selma, one of the major tourist events of the year for the City. Yes, that is the way the CULT promotes unity.
And on another note, we are appalled at what is happening at the Selma Housing Authority and how Director Lola Rogers has destroyed the morale of a proud organization. When a Director such as Rogers actually calls out and embarrasses employees in public meetings, takes away sick leave, gives raises to favorites, hires relatives, uses Housing Authority employees and materials on her personal home, talks down to employees and tenants, you know the Housing Authority has major problems and Ms. Rogers needs to be removed as Director. We call on Board Members George Needham, Nancy Smith, one of us, Annie Montgomery, James Spicer, and Betty Finley to get some backbone and get rid of Ms. Rogers - or else there are going to be more scandals and investigations at the Housing Authority than anyone thought possible.
