STJ Strikes Out Again!
3-6-07
This website has been informed by a source that a SPD officer said the Selma Times-Journal has chosen to omit an important part of the news that happened Saturday night/Sunday morning on March 3rd.
The dignitaries were in town for the Jubilee festivities. The city was filled with guests from all over the nation. The security forces for the presidential candidates where here in great numbers. The media was more than abundant.
This didn't stop one of the illustrious clubs on Alabama Ave, close to the police department, from doing its Saturday night performance. It appears a disgruntled person decided he would solve what appeared to be an alcohol-related issue in his own way.
Armed with what was identified as a .243 rifle, converted to an automatic weapon, this person shot several times, three times hitting a person in the crowd. At last update, the victim was still alive.
The STJ was good at blasting the Council for their conduct, and rightfully so, but a situation as serious as this should be reported...so the public can at least be reminded NOT to go!
When is the Selma Times going to start addressing this crime problem that is ruining the community? When are they going to ask Mayor Perkins and Chief Martin their strategy or plan to fix this fatal problem? If your going to be a newspaper, report the news. "Candy Coating" is prejudicial to the safety of all citizens in Selma.
P.S. - At the same time, maybe they could report the FACT that Councilman Leashore was driving 103 mph on Broad Street and is trying to get his ticket voided!
