MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING…
8-16-12

What a gaggle of protestors pictured in the Times-Journal on Saturday, August 11! Hank Sanders, Johnny Leashore, Sam Walker, Leon Johnson, C. C. Perkins Pettaway…now there is a group of people who will do anything to get their pictures in the paper and who continue to create hate, division, controversy and unrest in our community. We have never shared the view of some in this community that Hank Sanders is o.k. and that it is his wife who is the problem. For 40 years, he has enabled her to cause hate and division in Selma. If people will think rationally, for almost 30 years Hank Sanders has served in the legislature. WE ARE WORST OFF TODAY IN COMPARISION TO THE REST OF THE STATE AND COUNTRY THAN WE WERE 30 YEARS AGO! But Hank and Rose Sanders are much better off today than they were 30 years ago.

The whole flap about the monument in Confederate Circle in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING. Had Rose and Hank really wanted to know the truth, they could have asked someone rather than ranting and raving and demonstrating their ignorance about what was going on in the cemetery. Both of them have been ranting about a “new” monument being built. THIS IS ANOTHER LIE designed to inflame the black community before the August 28 election. We have talked to those involved and can report that NO NEW monument is being erected. What is being erected is a fence and a pedestal where the present monument will be place TO MAKE IT HARDER TO STEAL.

Had not Rose been on HATE RADIO agitating for the monument to be removed, the bust would never have been stolen. HOW IRONIC. The monument was placed in the cemetery in 2001 BECAUSE OF HER AGITATION and the cowardice of then Mayor James Perkins, Jr. who caved in to her irrational demands. Now with an election looming, and ROSE NEEDING AN ISSUE TO INFLAME PEOPLE TO VOTE, she wants the monument that she caused to be placed in the cemetery moved. How much longer will the good people of Selma, black and white, let this evil woman divide us and hold our city back???

Rational people, black and white, can think for themselves. For TEN YEARS the monument was undisturbed in the cemetery. Now the city election is coming up and Rose is trying to get a certain mayoral candidate AND HER SON IN LAW, Franklin NOT A BISHOP Fortier, elected President of the City Council. What better way to agitate and inflame emotions then to attack a piece of marble dedicated to a man dead for 135 years and to divert attention from the real problems of Selma!

Instead of villifying someone who has been dead for 135 years and attacking a piece of marble in a cemetery that not ten people a day see, Rose could deal with the real problems in Selma: 80-THAT’S RIGHT-80- BLACK ON BLACK MURDERS IN THE LAST TEN YEARS, an illegitimacy rate of more than 80% in Dallas County (4 out of every 5 babies born in Dallas county are now born to single mothers), more than 50% of our people living in poverty. We have some real problems here, but a marble slab with a fence being built around it is not one of them.

The interesting items on Mr. Perkins’ contributor’s lists are the number of people(Brandon Hewitt of Birmingham with Khafra Engineering, Robert Baugh of Birmingham) who did business with the City while Perkins was in office and the number of people out of state and city who expect to do business with the City if Perkins is reelected (Resurgens Risk Management and Willie Burks with the same address in Atlanta). ONE HAS TO WONDER WHY SO MANY CONTRIBUTIONS FROM OUT OF STATE AND OUT OF CITY TO THE PERKINS CAMPAIGN???

We had thought and hoped that Mrs. Malika Sanders Fortier had some redeeming value and would be a person we could talk to until her husband started running for President of the City Council. SHE HAD A GREAT LAPSE IN JUDGMENT WHEN SHE ALLOWED A POEM TO BE READ ON HER PROGRAM FRIDAY, AUGUST 10, WHICH REFERRED TO COUNCILWOMAN ANGELA BENJAMIN AS A “HO”. We find this very offensive, distasteful and evil and know that if a white woman had said this about a black woman that all hell would have broken loose; yet, Malika sat right there on HATE RADIO and let this happened. We are very disappointed in her and regret that she has let the political season cloud her judgment. We think HATE RADIO AND MRS. FORTIER OWE MS. BENJAMIN AN APOLOGY AND SHOLD STOP THIS KIND OF DEROGATORY LANGUAGE ON THEIR STATION.

We continue to be disappointed that Franklin Fortier continues to refer to himself as the Bishop of the Black Belt. We find his appropriation of the title “Bishop” to himself to be very offensive, as well as intellectually dishonest. It demonstrates a serious character flaw, which in our opinion renders him unfit for any public office. We do not understand why Mr. Fortier would not FIRST run for the City Council rather than wanting to be PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL WITHOUT ANY EXPERIENCE ON THE COUNCIL.

THERE IS WIDESPREAD VOTER FRAUD HAPPENING IN THE CITY, ESPECIALLY IN WARDS 2 AND 6. As usual, Johnny Leashore in right in the middle of this fraud. Essentially it involves getting people who DO NOT live in the ward to update (change) their residence address to an address within the Ward and then usually voting absentee. We expect to publish a list of those who lived outside of Wards 2 and 6 before July 24 (when absentee voting began), but who have changed to an address within the Ward AND HAVE ALREADY VOTED ABSENTEE. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE IS NO VERIFICATION REQUIREMENT IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR VOTING ADDRESS. You simply sign a form, give it to the Board of Registrars and VIOLA, you are changed from one ward to another or from the County to the City. THIS FRAUD MUST STOP!
