LIES AND DECEIT IN RIVER CITY

Now we know that former Police Chief Jimmy Martin and City Attorney Jimmy Nunn were LYING when they told Mayor Evans and the City Council that it was the fault of the District Attorney that the missing cars were not condemned by the Court in a timely manner. THE TRUTH is that Martin and Nunn and others did not deliver the paperwork to the District Attorney so that the condemnation could be filed in a timely manner. THANK YOU ANDY ARRINGTON, who worked in the DA's office, for telling the Selma Times-Journal that Jimmy Martin's story was NOT TRUE. The problem was,quoting Arirington,"the paper work was turned over to the DA MONTHS after the property was taken". Thanks to the STJ for bird dogging this story!
Now for the SAD PART of these lies by Martin, Nunn and others. Mayor George Evans essentially repeated WHAT HE HEARD AND BELIEVED FROM MARTIN,NUNN,RILEY AND MILLER about the missing cars. This makes the Mayor look like a liar, although we believe he was simply misled by those who work for him. NOW IS THE PERFECT TIME AND HE HAS THE PERFECT REASON to remove Jimmy Nunn and Jimmy Martin. How much longer, Mayor, are you going to let these people, who are not loyal to you, embarrass you?
Related to these lies about the cars is the missing money STOLEN from the Police Department. NO ONE has yet told the Mayor or the public the truth about what happened to the money. The City Council and public was repeatedly told by Mayor Perkins, Jimmy Nunn, Martin and even Chief Riley that the matter had been turned over to the Attorney General's office for investigation. WE DO NOT THINK IT EVER WAS, BUT ARE WILLING TO BE CORRECTED if someone will tell us who turned it over to the AG, to whom in the AG'S office it was turned over to, and when. MAYOR EVANS NEEDS TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS AND LET THE PUBLIC KNOW THE TRUTH. Our opinion is that former detective Barnhill is being set up to take the fall for the entire department regarding the theft of the money. BUT WE DO NOT BELIEVE ANY ONE PERSON ACTED ALONE in committing this theft AND IN COVERING IT UP. MORE THAN A YEAR AGO, this web site reported the sordid details of the corruption and thievery at the Selma-Dallas Community Action Agency headed by school board member John Williams, and at the time, Jessica Chestnut. We posted on this web site the more than 20 pages of damaging findings by investigators from the IG's office in Atlanta about stolen money, missing money, deplorable conditions at Head Start facilities, and general mismanagement by Williams and Chestnut. Chestnut actually quit the agency and was hired by Mayor Perkins to be the city's grants writer. This hire is understandable in light of the fact that she is Rev. Coley Chestnut's sister. A school board member, the Rev. Chestnut is married to Mayor Perkins' first cousin. Thankfully, Mayor Evans removed Ms. Chestnut from the city payroll shortly after taking office. This brings us back to John Williams. Despite the damning report from the investigators, Williams continued to head the Community Action Agency. Fortunately, this week, state officials delivered an ultimatum to the local Board of the CAA that either Williams be removed or no more funds were coming to the agency.
John Williams, as well as a few members of the present Selma City School Board, ARE THE MAIN REASON THE CITY SHOULD HAVE AN ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD. Unless there are compelling reason we are not yet aware of, we are urging that everyone vote YES on the referendum on APRIL 28 TO HAVE AN ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD. We understand that the current 11 member Board wants to keep taking $600 a month-whose legality is questionable and which a few board members are NOT taking-and not be held accountable to the public or anyone else. (If one of the Board members anonymously will tell us via email which board members are not ripping off the public for $600 a month, we will be happy to print their names and thank them for being true public servants). We urge the new Superintendent to NOT become involved in this referendum!
BACK TO LIARS, we have been shocked by the pathological lies and hatred that EX-Councilman Johnnie Leashore is directing on hate radio 105.3 toward George Evans, Cecil Williamson, Geraldine Allen, B.L. Tucker and Corey Bowie. It seems to us that Mr. Leashore is losing his sense of reason and is so obsessed with losing the election that he may be verging on going over the edge. He must believe (wrongly) that these were the people who caused him to lose the election. However, it was the voters in Ward 6, his own people, those who knew him best, WHO HAD HAD ENOUGH of his irrational behavior on the Council who voted him out of office. Other than Rev. Tucker, who defeated Leashore without even campaigning, none of the other individuals Mr. Leashore directs his venom toward voted in Ward 6, and to our knowledge, did not campaign against him. It was those who have known Mr. Leashore for a long time who summarily booted him off of the City Council after one term. Perhaps they wanted someone to represent their interests instead of someone who was simply a puppet of Perkins and Crenshaw. To our knowledge, Mr. Leashore never had one original thought while on the City Council. That could be the reason he was defeated. We are sincerely concerned about Mr. Leashore's MENTAL HEALTH and urge him to consider that by continuing his hate filled tirades on hate radio 105.3 that the only person he is hurting is himself plus deterring any industrial prospects who may be in town from locating here. We urge Mr. Leashore to get help before he goes over the edge!!
