What is more important - crime or a movie theater? The question was answered when a citizen asked Perkins, "If this bond issue passes, what would the first project be?" Perkins answered with a laugh,"The movie theater." This is re-election mentality.

The priorities of Perkins have went crazy. The citizens are faced with the highest crime Selma has ever had. We have less police officers than ever. The people are screaming for protection and Perkins is demanding a theater. What kind of thinking is that?

He has proven that the misfortune of others does not bother him. He has made our city his playground. This bond issue is his pocket money and re-election fund. He proved that by wanting a theater before safety.

It has not been decided by the courts whether these "spy cameras" are an invasion of privacy. These cameras will not only see streets and intersections, they can be used to zoom in on your personal and private life. Don't be fooled by Perkins and his doubletalk. These cameras are to his benefit in some way, not ours. He does nothing that doesn't tilt in his favor. Common knowledge, he is very vendictive and spends more time on devising ways to get revenge on people than serving them. This is his way of finding out who goes where, when, and what they do. He had a fit when pictures were taken of the political sign in his yard but he is more than tickled to watch and take pictures of you.

A theater in our city at our present population would not survive. A theater will pull a criminal element to any area the theater is placed. It happened in Selmont and it will happen here. The river is no boundary to crime. Walk behind the old Cahaba Twin. The glass all over the ground belongs to the patron's car windows that decided to go to a movie.

After complaining about the 6 mil (St. James Hotel) and how it was handled, this person (hard to call him a Mayor) is following the same steps. He could care less about anything but the vote and he will bankrupt us to be re-elected. His expertise lies in Birmingham where bankruptcy seems to be his way of coping with debt.

This bond issue is the third worse move he has made. First was the destruction of our Police Department. Second was the TrustBuild voting machine.

We have allowed, or should we say, the Council has allowed, these first two blunders.

Don't let the Crenshaws and Leashores of Selma take the last shot that kills our city.

THIS BOND ISSUE MUST NOT GET OUT OF THE COUNCIL!!! DON'T LET IT GET TO THE BALLOT BOX!!!!!
