NEW INDUSTRY FOR DALLAS COUNTY

EDA Director Wayne Vardaman and Probate Johnny Jones are poised to announce a major industry is locating in Dallas County. This will be a significant boast to the area both financially and psychologically. Vardaman and Jones have been working quietly for weeks with company officials to get this company to locate in Dallas County. The community can expect the announcement in the next few days. Our hats are off to the EDA and Probate Judge for bringing this business to our area.

Selma has suffered some industrial losses in recent months including:

-the announcement last week that Lousiana Pacific (L.P.) is closing its plant for 28 days. This follows earlier lay-offs by L.P.

-the closing of Southland Mower on June 30

-rumors of lay-offs at Globe

Despite these setbacks, the EDA and County leaders continue to seek new industry for our area. It does not help industrial recruiting for Mayor Perkins not to be on hand to greet Governor Riley when the Governor is in town. Thanks to Vardaman and Jones for working quietly for the good of the community while certain leaders only want to take credit for bringing industry here when they in fact had nothing to do with with getting industry to come!

When this new industry is announced, see who will be front and center trying to make it appear that he was in some way responsible for the company coming here!
