HENRY HICKS, SR. CAUGHT UP IN 'AT RISK' FUNDS SCHEME
11-23-09

An organization incorporated in 2001 by HENRY HICKS, SR, candidate for Selma City School Board President, has received HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS from the Selma City School System and the Dallas County School System. (See the incorporation notice from the Secretary of State following this aarticle) Hicks' nefarious group goes under the acronym of S.C.O.P.E (Slema Coalition Offering Peaceful Experiences).

Hicks S.C.O.P.E group must be a magical organization because in its brief history it has everyone connected to Rose and Hank Sanders as officers, workers for pay, consultants, teachers and beneficiaries. Research through the years show that in one way or another Felicia Pettway, who described herself as Administrator of the National Voting Rights Museum was also the paid Program Consultant for S.C.O.P.E., April England and Cliff Albright, Coley Chestnut, Sr., Barbara Brown, and many others are connected to SCOPE.

It is no wonder that the FBI is investigating all of the At Risk funding program administered by the Selma City School System. (See the news release which follows)

We had wondered why Henry Hicks, Sr. was more than interested in the school system while serving full time as Public Works Director for Mayor Perkins. We think MONEY and S.C.O.P.E. could be a contributing factor. The whole At Risk program, where every school system in Alabama has to give 20% of its funds to help low achieving students to Community Organizations, should be abolished. It was put into the education bill years ago by Hank Sanders as a way, we believe, to funnel money to his wife's organizations, such as 21st Century. 21st Century HAS RECEIVED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FROM THE SELMA CITY SCHOOL SYSTEM in recent years. As with S.C.O.P.E., everyone paid by 21st Century is connected in some way to Rose Sanders.

We wonder what Hicks will do is he is eleced to the School Board. Will the Board still give money to an organization that he incorporated? THIS WHOLE AT RISK MESS AND HICKS' INVOLVEMENT IN IT IS ANOTHER REASON HE SHOULD NOT BE ELECTED TO THE SCHOOL BOARD.
