HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN

Tuesday, August 26, was the best day in the history of Selma since the Union Army left town in 1865. After 8 years of occupation by the incompetent, arrogant, and secretive Perkinite Army, Selma is free at last, free at last, thank GOD ALMIGHTY, Selma is free at last!
Although the 4 of us who write on this website do not have any special influence with Mayor-elect Evans, we offer him and the community the following advice:
1) City Department Heads: We urge Mr. Evans to immediately replace Perkins' appointees with individuals loyal to Mr. Evans. We do not care if these people are black, white, red, or yellow as long as they are competent. We recommend Perkins' appointees be removed in this order:

2) Mark Duke, The House of God, and The Freedom Foundation: Our opinion is that Duke and his followers did everything possible to re-elect Perkins as Mayor. However, the day following the election, Duke was on the radio talking about what to do to unify Selma. What he does not understand is that what happened Tuesday shows that Selma IS UNIFIED in wanting public safety, fiscal responsibility, and economic growth. From East End to the Old Armory, blacks and whites ARE UNITED against Duke's candidate, James Perkins.
Mark Duke continuing to talk about disunity creates division in Selma. If he wants to help unify the community, we give him 2 words of advice: LEAVE SELMA!
The continued presence of Duke, The House of God, and The Freedom Foundation is going to create more turmoil and controversy in the next 3 months than anyone can imagine. Everything hidden will soon be revealed.
We urge Mayor Evans to treat Duke like any other citizen, but not forget that Duke and his followers whole-heartedly tried to re-elect Perkins.
3) Dr. Geraldine Allen and Mr. Gene Hisel: Rather than a divisive race for President of the City Council, we urge Dr. Geraldine Allen to withdraw from the race, the City Council appoint her to the Water Board, and the Board elect her Chair of the Board.
We also believe that Reid Cain, a businessman and banker, should be appointed to the Water Board. With Dr. Allen as Chair, we know that the mess at the Water Board will be cleaned up. Perkins will be removed as Superintendent, his brother-in-law, Collins Pettaway, will be removed as Board Attorney, and Bennie Ruth Crenshaw will be removed from her $19,600 salary as Secretary Treasurer. Although we know that money is not a consideration for Dr. Allen, if she took the same salary that the defeated and disgraced Johnnie Leashore took as Chairman, she would make more money as Water Board Chair than as President of the City Council.
We urge Mayor Evans to use his influence with all concerned to bring this suggestion to pass.
4) Finally, we hope we never hear the names of Khafra Engineering, DHL Service and Debra Love, and Decisions, INC ever mentioned again as working for the City of Selma. They have had 8 years to get rich off of the taxpayers of Selma and the people have VOTED FOR A CHANGE!
We congratulate Mayor-elect Evans and the members of the City Council who take office November 1st. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!
