GOOD NEWS KEEPS COMING
10-15-11

Three recent events have brought good news to Selma: the closing of 12 Stone Night Club, the removal of Synethia Perkins Pettaway from the Dallas County Board of Registrars, and the removal of Don Jefferson as Selma School Superintendent. These events are good news because of the actions themselves as well as what they represent in the whole scope of Selma politics.

The property where the 12 Stone Night Club is located is owned by the Hank and Rose Sanders family enterprises. Had it been owned by anyone else, the Club would have been closed long ago. Police Chief Riley said that the police have been called to the Club at least 23 times in recent months. The murder there last week was the final straw in the removal of the business license of the Club. As an aside, one of the persons in jail for the murder is a 19 year old who WAS OUT ON BAIL when he shot his own sister to death. WE WOULD LIKE THE COMMUNITY TO KNOW WHO BAILED HIM OUT OF JAIL.

The removal of defeated Mayor James Perkin’s sister, Synethia, from the Dallas County Board of Registrars was long overdue. One of her primary emphasis was registering convicted felons to vote, even going to the county jail to register felons. She is one of the most incompetent people to occupy any position of public trust that we have ever known. The voter rolls in Selma and Dallas County are such a mess that we have more people on the rolls than we have over 18 years of age in the city and county. We also were not happy with her close association and public support for the local Freedom Foundation/House of God cult.

Of course, Rose Sanders wants to make this a racial issue. Actually, it is a political issue. The Republicans won state wide races. They get to appoint the registrars and they appointed Republicans. Leave it to Rose to see race under every rock.

Finally, placing Don Jefferson on administrative leave for illegally signing and paying a contract was the correct move by members of the Selma City School Board. We know that Jefferson is a pawn for Perkins, Leashore and Crenshaw. We think the performance of Perkins protégé Henry Hicks as Chairman of the Selma City School Board has been dismal. It is regrettable that such a person as Hicks was elected to that position when Dr. Anne Fitts, his opponent, was so much better qualified by education, teaching experience, and cooperative spirit with all people. We have said before that Mr. Jefferson has put the school system into an enormous debt that CAN NOT BE REPAID WITHOUT RAISING TAXES.

We especially commend Mrs. Brenda Randolph Obamanu for her courage on the school board. Mrs. Obamanu has been under immense pressure from the Crenshaw-Leashore-Perkins cabal, who threatened her political life when she did not vote to close Byrd School. She is the sister of Councilman Sam Randolph, who has been a puppet of Crenshaw and Perkins for many years. We think it is time for Sam Randolph to man-up and cut his ties with this evil group of people who are trying to destroy HIS OWN SISTER. This would be an opportune time for him to separate himself from the Perkins crowd and be his own man for a change. He would feel better about himself if he did, and we know we would feel better toward him. Come on Sam, be a man, and separate yourself from the HATE RADIO crowd!
