CAMPAIGN EVENT BLOWS UP IN PERKINS FACE

The campaign event planned by Mayor Perkins to exploit the Tuskegee Airmen has blown up in the Mayor's face. The Mayor had the flyer above printed and distributed announcing the "Tuskegee Airmen 41st Annual Fly-In". If any of these 85-95 year olds are still flying, we commend them, but question the wisdom of such flights. What has been learned, as we stated before, id that it was NOT the Tuskegee Airmen who were behind this Perkins campaign event, but the Negro Airman's Association.
With the Craig Airport Authority exercising sound judgement by not turning the air base into a political football and because Perkins did not even ask the Board for the use of the base for his extravaganza, the Fly-In will not be taking place in Selma. However, with egg on his face for dreaming up such a ridiculous self-serving idea, Perkins now tries to save face by inviting the Black Bikers to do a Slow Ride from the Bridge to Craig and participate in the 1st annual Wings and Wheels Tailgate Party at Block Park. We believe that after the good people of Selma, black and white, see what comes to Selma and what is done to Block Park, that this will not only be the 1st, BUT ALSO THE LAST Wings and Wheels Tailgate Party.
We hoped that this idea had died a respectful death and that the Mayor would cut his losses and leave it alone, but he never learns from his mistakes and never takes responsibility for them. Now he is moving the festivities to Block Park complete with a Step Show and Pep Rally. Can some SANE person please tell us WHAT THE PEP RALLY IS ABOUT? Is it for his campaign? Is it against public nudity? Or what?
Our intent was not to publish any pictures or video of the bikers who created havoc in Myrtle Beach and were invited NOT to come back; however, since the Mayor persists in this ridiculous idea, we are posting a link to a short video from the 2007 Black Bikers Week in Myrtle Beach so the citizens of Selma will not be surprised when they see these people in Selma with "Perkins For Mayor" stickers pasted on their bare bodies and cycles. This video shows why they were asked not to come back. The link below is to the video. This city will not survive 4 more years with Perkins as Mayor!
