Perkins move will cost $250,000 in badly needed education funds
PERKINS GETS SCHOOL BOARD TO REMOVE DR. JAMES CARTER AS SELMA CITY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT

As this website predicted about six months ago, Mayor Perkins has had the Selma City School Board fire Dr. James Carter, as Selma City School Superintendent. By all accounts, Dr. Carter had done an admirable job under difficult circumstances as City School Superintendent. What Dr. Carter would NOT do was let Perkins run and ruin the Selma City School System like he has ruined City Government. Perkins has been especially incensed that Dr. Carter wanted to take a rational approach to a new High School, which Perkins wants built now to help ensure his re-election next year.
With Perkins cronies in control of the Selma City School Board, it was only a matter of time until the Board removed Dr. Carter. This action will cost taxpayers about $250,000 in badly needed education funds to buy out the remaining time on Carter's contract. But public money has never matter to a megalomaniac like Perkins and his flunkies on the School Board: Ben Gihvan, James Terry, Barbara Housas, Coley Chestnut, Debra Howard, and John Williams.
We deeply regret that Ben Gihvan, who had a fairly good name in the community, has let himself be used by Perkins and as Chairman of the School Board is most responsible for this desperate and cowardly action. We would expect as much from Coley Chestnut, who desperately wants his wife Tonya Chestnut, Perkins cousin, to become Superintendent. Of course, Perkins will have to explain that to Charlotte Griffeth, the $60,000 a year Community Development Director, who also wants the job. However, Charlotte should know that blood is thicker than water and that Tonya, whom the County would NOT hire as Superintendent, will get the job. We are disappointed with Ben Gihvan and not surprised at Barbara Housas, who has only been in Selma a little more than a year and has already established herself as a far out leftist.
We also know that the Selma City Board has been having illegal and secret meetings and conversations and making decisions like this WITHOUT THE KNOWLEDGE OF THREE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD. David Hagood, Kirit Chapatwala, and Ann Fitts. We commend them for not having anything to do with Perkins stabbing Dr. Carter in the back.
What the people of Selma need to realize is that we have a highly medicated and irrational man as the Mayor of Selma who is greedy and power hungry beyond all reason and who will do anything to attain his immoral ends; SUCH AS THIS COWARDLY FIRING OF DR. CARTER!!
