Crenshaw's Turn To Go Wild
3-2-07

"All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal than others"
George Orwell, Animal Farm 1945

Bennie Ruth Crenshaw is the "pig like" Napoleon in Orwell's Animal Farm who is more equal than the other pigs on City Council. No where was this more evident than her brazenness in putting down speed breakers on Laurel Avenue without telling anyone, not even the Mayor.

Crenshaw called Tommie Smith and told him to put down the speed breakers. Perkins insists that everything go through him and his office except what the biggest PIG on the Council wants. She can call department heads, tell them what to do, and they WILL do it. OTHER Council Members have to go through Mayor Perkins or he gets mad. If City government is like a family, the wrong members are in control.

We will post the policy the City adopted on putting down speed breakers. Note that a MAJORITY OF PEOPLE on a street have to make the request and the request has to come to the Council through the Public Safety Committee--at least that is the way most of the pigs on the Animal Farm known as City Council have to operate...BUT DON'T THINK THAT STOPPED THE MOST EQUAL PIG, CRENSHAW!

In clear violation of the City's policy, Pig Crenshaw presented a petition with ONLY 9 NAMES ON IT of residents of Laurel Avenue asking for speed breakers. A count of houses on Laurel Avenue reveals there are for 19-22 houses on the street. NOT a majority, NOT even half, of the residents asked for speed breakers, but that didn't stop the pig from presenting the petition. Of course, it didn't come from the Public Safety Committee either - as the City policy requires.

We were there and we want to know why in the Hell George Evans allowed this to come to a vote since it violates the policy adopted only last month and we especially want to know why Evans and Jean Martin voted with the Crenshaw Block to put down speed breakers on Laurel Avenue...only Williamson and Cain voted to uphold the policy adopted for the Animal Farm known as Selma at last month's Council meeting. THE MAJORITY OF THE RESIDENTS ON LAUREL AVENUE WHO DID NOT SIGN THE PIG'S PETITION SHOULD REBELL AGAINST THE PIG AND THE ARROGANT WAY SHE ACTS!

Yes, Orwell was right. All the animals on the animal farm may be equal, but some are more equal than others...and the Pig Crenshaw is obviously the most equal of all the PIGS!!
