The Great Car Chase
9-2-06

On August 28th, another elderly lady was mugged and her purse snatched at the Winn-Dixie on West Dallas Ave. The criminal thugs sped away with the purse. Thus began the Great Car Chase, which points out the terrible condition of the Selma Police Department's vehicle fleet and serves as another reason that Police Chief Jimmy Martin should be immediately relieved of his post.

Do you wonder why the thieves were not stopped for 50 miles, till they had reached Montgomery? THE SELMA POLICE VEHICLES ARE IN SUCH SORRY SHAPE THAT THEY COULD NOT CATCH THE THUGS!!

Five Selma Police vehicles were in pursuit. 3 of them had to turn back to Selma because the cars began having mechanical troubles at high speeds. The other 2 cars could only travel 80 miles per hour because they were shaking so bad at that speed, it endangered the lives of the officers driving. THE THIEVES SIMPLY OUTRAN THE SPD VEHICLES. WHAT AN EMBARRASSMENT!!

Fortunately, the Alabama State Troopers and Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, which have competent leaders, were able to lay down spikes across Hwy 80 and stop the speeding thugs.

What a disgrace that our Selma Police Department vehicles are in such sorry shape that they can not catch speeding criminals.

We were fortunate that we had 5 cars that could run. This website is told that of our 28 police vehicles, only about 7 are in good enough shape to patrol in the city and that none are capable of hot pursuit on the highway!! This disaster can be laid at the feet of Mayor Perkins and his police chief, Jimmy Martin.

This website is told by police officers that recently the vehicle fleet was in such sorry repair that police officers were:
-Patrolling in a White Van and
-Patrolling in the King Stereo Boom Car

WHILE THE ABOVE DISASTERS WERE TAKING PLACE, CHIEF MARTIN WAS RETURNING HIS NEW EXECUTIVE CAR TO THE DEALER BECAUSE MARTIN DID NOT LIKE THE COLOR OF THE CARPET!
Until he gets his new executive car back with carpet to his liking, he will have to use one of the few available police cars to drive back and forth to his home in Bibb County.

HOW MUCH LONGER WILL MAYOR PERKINS LET THIS MESS CONTINUE?!
