CHAOS AND THIRD WORLD ANTICS CHARACTERIZED SELMA WATER BOARD MEETING FRIDAY

In a chaotic and illegal (purpose for meeting not given) Selma Water Board meeting Friday afternoon, which would have made a third world banana republic meeting look like a Sunday School picnic, Board members insulted, disrespected, harrassed, and ridiculed Dr. Geraldine Allen in an effort to keep her from taking her duly elected place on the Water Board. After the meeting, no one thinks Mayor Perkins and his minions on the Board believe Perkins must obey the law. Perkins and his flunkies on the Board, Leashore, Crenshaw, and Vick, think THEY ARE ABOVE THE LAW.
Previous to Friday's meeting, VICK AND CRENSHAW had met with Dr. Allen and told her she would have to pay for copies of Board minutes, Agendas, and even stamps to mail letters to her from the Water Board. WHAT GALL! Aubrey "Brother" Vick is one of our neighbors, but he apparently has lost his moral compass and become totally "patsy" for Perkins, Leashore, and Crenshaw. We trust some of our neighbors will speak with him before he gets caught in the legal web that is slowly engulfing Leashore, Crenshaw, Perkins, and others.
Perkins even had 2 police officers at the meeting. He must think that police are his private army that he orders around like some latter day Idi Amin. Leashore tried to have the police remove Dr. Allen from the meeting; however, Dr. Allen sttod up to the police and told them that if they touched her, they would be charged with assault and battery. The police did NOT touch or remove Dr. Allen from Perkins' illegal meeting.
Of course, Perkins brother-in-law, Collins Pettway, Jr., was there as was April E. Albright. We thought the Albrights had moved to Atlanta. IF SO, how much did it cost to get April to come back and attend this illegal meeting. People of Selma will not believe how much the Water Board has paid Pettway and Albright in legal fees. No wonder our water rates are the highest they have ever been and rising each year.
The illegal Friday meeting was called to find a way to keep Dr. Allen off of the Water Board. Why are Perkins, Leashore, Crenshaw, Vick, Randolph, Pettaway, and Albright so determined to keep her off of the Water Board? What are the hiding? Needless to say, the meeting was one of chaos, disorder, and DISGRACE to the City of Selma. Government here will always be that way as long as Perkins, Leashore, and Crenshaw act as if there are no laws they have to obey and that the treasures of the City and Water Board belong to them personally.
Perkins wants the City Council to look at the matter again. THE COUNCIL has already elected Allen to the Board. It looks like more legal fees for Pettaway and Albright because this one is headed back to court. Maybe contempt citations and a little jail time for the Water Board members will convince them this is the United States, not some third rate dictatorship where they do not respect or obey the law!
